Garrett Creative, an independent design studio and artist collective

Design Matters

With a talented team of designers and illustrators from around the world, we draw on decades of experience and wide ranging cultural influences to deliver engaging design solutions for ethical businesses, the music industry, and non-profits.

We care about design because we care about people. The potential for design to be a force for good is huge, whether it helps forward-thinking start-ups launch new products, musicians turbo charge their careers, or charities to deliver ambitious social change.

Our Mission

To use our design and creativity to help you to make a positive impact in the world. We believe in intuitive design shaped by the needs of the user – accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

Your Creative Partner

At Garrett Creative, we don’t just deliver great design work, we build dynamic creative partnerships with our clients. From our transparent pricing models to our collaborative delivery process, we are with you every step of the way. Here’s what to expect when you work with us…

1. Research

Working with what you already know about your customers, we build profiles from a broad range of visual, cultural and market references to fully understand what users need from our designs.

We’ll send over a research deck and mood boards that give you a broad idea of the strategy we recommend, including visual style, colour, illustration and typography. And your thoughts and feedback will shape how we approach the next stage.

2. Ideation

Here we apply the design strategy to your business and projects. We’ll begin creating style guides and sketching out work – your feedback, ideas and copy will help us iterate as we go.

At the end you’ll get two alternative concepts, including mockups, that will help you make a call on our direction for the final stretch.

3. Execution

At this point we shift gears. We get creating, you get another chance to fine tune our ideas, and your visuals are brought to life. They’ll arrive in your hands primed and ready to fire your brand, music or message out to the world.

Introducing the Crew

It’s been said that you’re only ever as strong as the people around you. We couldn’t agree more, our international team of designers and illustrators are literally the heart and soul of our studio. It’s a pleasure to introduce them here.

Ed Garrett

Born and bred Bristolian, Ed has been immersed in design and music all his life. He founded Garrett Creative in 2017, combining his business development and project delivery experience with the bank of graphic design skills he developed while managing shops and record labels.

The creative brain and studio engineer behind Run Tingz Recordings, Ed brings his specialist insight and studio skills to our music industry work and animation projects.

Isabella Cheung

Isabella joined us towards the end of 2020 after a number of years freelancing in the UK and Indonesia. Graduating from Chelsea School of Art (UAL) with a 1st class degree in Graphic Design Communication, not to mention a coveted D&AD New Blood Award, she was an absolute catch and beat nearly 200 other applicants to her role.

Specialising in brand design, research and concept development, Isabella brings a level of passion and skill to the team that continues to be invaluable.

Beatriz Leonardo

Having lived all over Europe before coming to study in Bristol, Beatriz has built up a wide range of experience from illustration and printmaking to motion and graphic design.

Currently residing in Lisbon Portugal, Beatriz’s speciality is bringing together her varied skills and blending areas of creativity, whether that’s mixing analogue and digital design, music and visual art, or small and large-scale prints.

She is an incredible artist, she leads on the majority of our illustration work and is the longest standing team member of the studio.

Elvien Daru

Hailing from a small town in Lampung, Indonesia, Elvien has been working in design and illustration since 2015.

One of the most talented designers we’ve met, she brings a signature style of beautifully drawn, colourful and modern designs to the studio. Her focus is on branding and logo design, and her unique approach is an instrumental part of our work.

Ben Menter

Further representing the Bristol contingent, Ben is another one of our team who grew up in our home town.

Creative through and through, as well as being one of our most senior designers, Ben has an impressive music career behind him and is otherwise known as Mr Benn to local reggae and hip hop fanatics.

Specialising in graphic design, print management and large format, Ben comes to us with years of experience designing for businesses, record labels and the 3rd sector. What a legend!

Mahalia Curtis

One of our summer signings of 2021, Mahalia graduated from Bristol University with a 1st class degree in Art History. She is passionate about our work in the 3rd sector and the studio’s sustainability journey.

Joining us as our first full time Marketing Executive, Mahalia works tirelessly towards the growth and development of the studio. Oh, and did we mention she’s also an incredible illustrator.

Justine Viot

Born in France, Justine graduated from L’école de Design Nantes Atlantique with a degree in UX/UI Design. She joined us in Summer 2021 as a full time Website and UX Designer, with the objective of elevating our web design offering and building on our user-led approach to design.

Her other creative passion is sustainable fashion, she is taking the reigns of our collaboration project with the Future Leap  and plans to study further in the field.

Sustainability

Our Design for Good ethos means more to us than just supporting our local 3rd sector.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do – from basing our HQ at the Future Leap, the UK’s first carbon neutral business hub, to educating our staff on climate literacy and wider sustainability issues, by using hosting providers powered by renewable energy, and beginning our journey towards our B-Corp accreditation, which started in Spring 2021 with the completion of our impact assessment.

And it doesn’t stop there, we work in close partnership with the Future Economy Network and Future Leap Community. We champion sustainability and the network at every given opportunity, in fact, why don’t you join us at one of the events soon.

Terms of Business

Our T’s & C’s are currently going through a final set of revisions with our legal team. They will be published here in due course but in the meantime, please contact us using the form below if you have any questions.

Pricing

We operate a transparent model based on our current rate of £400/day across all services. We offer preferential rates for charities, non-profits, unsigned artists, pre-seed startups and Future Economy Network members. To see if you qualify please reach out using the form below.
