Creative strategy, artist branding, release artwork, digital & print marketing for an independent Jungle and Drum & Bass label.

Founded in 2010, the Bristol based imprint quickly became a respected underground record label and events brand, earning a cult following the world over.

Featuring an abundance of top tier Jungle and Drum & Bass talent, the artist roster and back catalogue speaks for itself.

The Challenge

Run Tingz was built on a foundation of killer beats, incredible artists and some of the best design work in the scene. In collaboration with our very own founder Ed, the label’s original designer Richard Lock, had created an incredible visual identity that struck the perfect balance between underground, gritty and urban, while still having the commercial potential to appeal to a global audience.

When we took over the reins, the label was going through a transition towards a much more minimal sound, and the artwork needed to follow suit. Rich was always going to be a tough act to follow, but it’s an opportunity we grabbed with both hands.

Our Approach

We stripped back a lot of the effects and started to incorporate a more minimal handmade feel to the artwork. This was complimented with the use of loud oversized typographic elements which have always played a huge role in the label’s artwork.

We used photography to create subtle textures and kept it true the labels roots with the use of sound systems, spray paint and urban environments.

The Outcome

The label continues to be a force to be reckoned with. Prior to the pandemic, they built a live streaming facility in their Bristol based studio. When live events were sadly shut down, they were one step ahead of the game and went on to produce some incredible ‘on location’ streams, which saw them receive a nomination for the converted DNB Awards and their You Tube channel grow to over 154K subscribers.

They continue to push boundaries and having just signed a cohort of promising new production talent, have an exciting schedule of releases slated for Autumn and Winter 2021. Watch this space, and keep your ears to the ground, Jungle is still and will always be MASSIVE!
